Job Offer from October 15, 2020

The Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics aims to understand information processing in the brain through an interdisciplinary research program bridging experimental, theoretical, and computational neuroscience.

The RoLi lab at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics is a systems neuroscience and neuroengineering lab led by Drew Robson and Jennifer Li. Broadly speaking, we are interested in the neuromodulatory mechanisms underlying state-dependent changes in behavior. Our lab has two parallel tracks. We develop novel imaging systems to record and manipulate whole-brain neural activity at cellular resolution in freely swimming larval zebrafish. We use these tools to gain a deeper understanding of how internal brain states modulate complex behaviors such as foraging, navigation, and learning.

Our lab has an opening for the position of a fully funded Postdoctoral Fellow (m/f/d) for 3 years, subject to renewal on an annual basis.

We welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds from systems and behavioral neuroscience to engineering and physics. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, creative, and collaborative.

  • Familiarity with a programming language (e.g. Julia, Python, MATLAB, or C++) is required.

Remuneration is based on qualifications and professional experience in accordance with the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD Bund) plus various social benefits and additional old-age pensions.

The Max Planck Society encourages diversity in its work culture. People from all backgrounds and genders are invited to apply.

Please send a CV, a letter describing your scientific interests, and contact information of three references until December 31, 2020 to .
