A special tour commemorating the 70th anniversary of Albert Einstein’s death. Einstein came to Berlin in 1914 and initially lived in Dahlem – a district that, during his time, became a hub for modern physics. The Kaiser Wilhelm Society (KWG), which established its first institutes in Dahlem in 1912, played a decisive role in this development.
The tour traces Einstein’s footsteps on the Dahlem campus, founded in 1912 by the KWG and soon home to some of the world’s leading researchers. In 1913, Max Planck and other Nobel laureates of Berlin’s physics community succeeded in bringing Einstein to Berlin, where he became director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Physics. He lived in the city until his emigration in 1933 and developed his general theory of relativity during this period. Einstein left a lasting mark on Dahlem and continues to inspire research here to this day.
Our Dahlem tours can also be booked for groups. Further information is available here.
