Max Planck Information and Technology (MaxIT)
Max Planck Information and Technology (MaxIT) in Munich is a central institution of the Max Planck Society for research support and administration-related information and IT services. It combines the former Information and Communication Technology Department of the Administrative Headquarters of the Max Planck Society and the Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL) under one roof and officially commenced operations on 1 January 2026.
MaxIT supports scientists and information service providers at all Max Planck Institutes with a broad portfolio of services in the fields of information provision, data analysis, publication services and research data management, as well as software product licensing. In addition, it provides all the IT systems and basic IT services required for administration.
MaxIT is also responsible for operational IT security and supporting the Max Planck Society with regard to AI applications. In addition, MaxIT provides the operational management of DEAL Open Access Services (DEAS) gGmbH.
