Thinking outside the box

Thinking outside the box

We want you to develop your potential and skills to the full: That's why we offer exchange visits and personality training seminars.

Are you training at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Intelligence and would like to find out how your colleagues at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems work? Then take part in the trainee exchange!

That's what you get out of it!

Spending several days or even weeks getting a taste of the working world at another institute, perhaps even in another city, is not only fun; you also deepen your professional knowledge. At the same time, the exchange promotes a sense of responsibility and independence. Where the learning content required in the training regulations cannot be taught or cannot be taught in full, it also serves to ensure the quality of the training.

How it works

Each exchange is handled individually in consultation with the trainers and administrative managers at the Max Planck Institutes. As no additional financial resources can be made available to the host institute for the exchange, accommodation is usually offered in a guest house or with a host family. Vocational school lessons must not be jeopardized by an exchange. The time and place of the exchange are communicated to the chambers and contractually arranged (if necessary also with the parents) so that accident insurance cover continues to exist.

Our offer for you: Personality training

It is not always possible to continue working at a Max Planck Institute immediately after completing vocational training. In order to optimally prepare trainees for the challenges associated with the application phase and the start of their careers, the Max Planck Society offers personality training for trainees at selected locations.

Up to five events with 14 to 16 trainees take place each year. Each seminar lasts three days. Representatives of the institutes coordinate the dates with the trainees in the institute or among several institutes located close to each other and agree these with the lecturer via the General Administration of the Max Planck Society.
