Curriculum Vitae
Studied physics at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel (2000 - 2006). Doctorate at the Spanish fusion research laboratory Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas CIEMAT in Madrid, where TJ-II, the second largest stellarator in the world, is operated.
After completing his doctorate, moved to the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching in 2011. Research into plasma flows at the ASDEX Upgrade Tokamak. Head of the Turbulence Research Group at IPP since 2023 and expanded his studies to include Tokamak operating modes with increased energy confinement. In particular, he intensively investigated the Improved Energy Confinement Mode (I-Mode) and plasmas with negative triangularity. Since 1 July 2024 Director at the MPI for Plasma Physics, Garching and Scientific Member of the MPG.
