The development of the Max Planck Society since 1948 has unfolded against the background of the history of the Federal Republic of Germany. Environmental problems, internationalization and the demand for more co-determination and gender equality also have affected the MPG and its strategies. This new publication compiles the results of an eight-year project exploring these connections comprehensively based on a broad range of sources.
