Summary
HERA, the world's first electron proton collider, has allowed scientists to look into the heart of matter with unprecedented resolution. Fascinating results have been obtained, such as the observation of a rapid increase in the number of virtual quarks, antiquarks, and gluons visible in scattering processes as the energy is increased. The HERA program has recently begun a new phase which promises a large increase in data and further exciting results.
