Max Planck Society presents position paper on German science system
New forms of cooperation between Max Planck Institutes and higher institutes of education aim at strengthening the excellence and internationalism of German research
The Max Planck Society has joined the current debate about the future of the German science system by publishing a position paper that offers perspectives for the former’s further development. In the face of an ever tougher worldwide competition between the economies of knowledge, it is important that the relevant structures, in particular in cutting-edge research, must take global developments into account. Against this background, the Max Planck Society proposes two new instruments for cooperation with universities: Max Planck Centers and Max Planck professorships. At the same time, the research organisation emphasises its “mission top research”. The development of international networks and a visible presence in the international top ranks are a significant contribution of the Max Planck Society to the German science system.
