Born 1969 in Munich, Germany. Study of Psychology at the Philipps-Universität Marburg and at the Technische Universität Berlin/Germany, Diploma in Psychology at the Technische Universität Berlin (1996), PhD at the Freie Universität Berlin (2000), Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development Berlin (2000) , then first Visiting Fellow (2002), later Research Fellow (2003) both at the Wellcome Department of Imaging Neuroscience in London/England, Research Fellow at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience in London (2005), afterwards first Assistant Professor (2006), later Co-Director (2007) Laboratory for Social and Neural Systems Research at Univ. Zurich/Switzerland, Inaugural Chair in Social Neuroscience & Neuroeconomics at Univ. Zurich/Switzerland (2008), Director Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig/Germany (2010 - 2018), from 2019 Research Group Leader of the Research Group Social Neuroscience. Honorary professor at the University of Leipzig and the Humboldt University of Berlin. Otto Hahn Medal of the Max Planck Society (2001).
