Study of Psychology at the Philipps-Universität Marburg and at the Technische Universität Berlin/Germany, Diploma in Psychology at the Technische Universität Berlin (1996), PhD at the Freie Universität Berlin (2000), Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development Berlin (2000) , then first Visiting Fellow (2002), later Research Fellow (2003) both at the Wellcome Department of Imaging Neuroscience in London/England, Research Fellow at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience in London (2005), afterwards first Assistant Professor (2006), later Co-Director (2007) Laboratory for Social and Neural Systems Research at Univ. Zurich/Switzerland, Inaugural Chair in Social Neuroscience & Neuroeconomics at Univ. Zurich/Switzerland (2008), Director Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig/Germany (2010 - 2018), from 2019 Research Group Leader of the Research Group Social Neuroscience.
