Born 1980 in New York City. Bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science from New York University. PhD in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University in 2005. From 2005 to 2007 Assistant Professor at the Toyota Technological Institute in Chicago. Since 2008 at the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems on a tenure-track position. Honorary professor at Saarland University in 2017.
The computer scientist has received numerous awards, including the 2017 ACM SIGPLAN Robin Milner Young Researcher Award, an ERC Consolidator Grant in 2015, several Distinguished Paper Awards at top conferences and recently the "Busy Beaver Award" from Saarland University for outstanding commitment to teaching. Since 1 May 2022 Director at the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, Saarbrücken.
