Curriculum Vitae

Born on 15th November 1963, studied law at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen, graduating with a second state law examination. Subsequently studied at the School of Criminal Justice, Rutgers State University of New Jersey, USA, graduating with a Master of Arts. 1998 Doctorate and 2003 Habilitation at the Law Faculty of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich; 2003 to 2009 Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and Philosophy of Law at the Ruhr-University Bochum, then Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Philosophy of Law and Comparative Law at the Humboldt University Berlin. 2011-2012 Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, Canada. Research stays among others at the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies, Jerusalem. Since June 2019 Director of the Department of Criminal Law at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law. Tatjana Hörnle is a full member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz as well as a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
