About us

The TDSU LOC is a cutting-edge facility working in the area of microfabrication and microfluidics, offering a range of services and access to specialized instruments. Primarily focused on supporting biological and biophysical projects at MPL, the TDSU LOC provides comprehensive solutions and guidance in the design, production, and development of microstructured materials and microfluidic devices. Notable developments include microfluidic chips for real-time deformability cytometry, mechanoporation chips for intracellular cargo delivery, and unique cell-like microgel beads mimicking cell physical properties.

Join Our Dynamic Team at TDSU LOC!
Are you ready to be part of an innovative team embarking on an exciting journey? We are currently seeking a motivated Technical Assistant to join us in our mission to establish a state-of-the-art cleanroom facility at a new Max Planck Zentrum für Physik un Medizin in Erlangen. As we prepare to transition to our new location, equipped with cutting-edge microfabrication and microfluidic technologies, we need a skilled technician to help us build and operate this facility.

  • Collaborate with our team in setting up and operating a new cleanroom facility
  • Utilize your expertise in working within a cleanroom environment
  • Employ various microfabrication techniques, including photolithography, soft lithography, FDM, SLA, and DLP
  • Fabricate microfluidic chips using elastomeric, thermoplastic, and glass materials
  • Conduct microstructure morphological characterization using 3D optical profiler and interferometer

Requirements

  • Knowledge of microfabrication techniques
  • Knowledge of FDM, SLA and DLP, 3D printing technologies
  • 2D and 3D design skills using Klayout, Autocad, Solid Edge or similar softwares
  • Familiarity with microfluidic chip fabrication
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Ideally experience of working in a cleanroom environment
  • Ideally experience in micropatterning techniques
