The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching offers an opportunity to participate in a postdoctorate programme within the division Plasma Dynamics (PD) to perform research activities at the fusion experiments ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) and Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X). We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Physics (m/f/d).
Your tasks
- Operation of the thermal helium beam diagnostics at AUG and W7-X for fast measurements of temperature and density at the plasma edge
- Analysis of the acquired data and comparison with state-of-the-art plasma turbulence codes
- Supervising bachelor, master, and PhD students
Your profile/Our requirements
- PhD in experimental physics
- Good command of the English language, written and spoken
Desirable skills
- Knowledge of high temperature plasma physics with a focus on fusion plasma diagnostics
- Experience and knowledge in the field of turbulence investigations or plasma edge physics
- Scientific interpretation and analysis of measured data
