Advanced Gender Equality Amid Global Backlash

This talk will explore where we find ourselves today in terms of gender equality, given a global anti-gender politics, and how we got here. It will critically evaluate the role of international human rights law in advancing gender equality over the last fifty years and how it has functioned. It will conclude with proposals for a reformed praxis of human rights in light of the current backlash.
