How the social network affects language processing

People differ in the size of their social circle. As we learn language from our environment, one would expect the size of the social network to affect the way we process language. This is indeed the case. A project at the MPI for Psycholinguistics investigates which aspects of language processing in adults can be related to the size of the social network, and which psychological processes are responsible for these relationships. The project thus shows that our life-style can influence our communicative abilities.
