The implementation of international social standards and rights

Summary
In 1998, the International Labour Organization (ILO) stipulated a catalogue of core labour standards which are directly binding on all member states. The effective enforcement of these minimum social standards, as an emanation of universal human rights, is also in the interest of industrialized countries, which would otherwise have to retrench the social rights of their own inhabitants.
