Summary
Sirtuins are highly conserved histon/protein deacetylases, which confer stress resistance and longevity. In mammals sirtuins are represented by a gene family that consists of seven genes, Sirt1 -Sirt7. In our project we investigate the molecular basis of sirtuin functions in mammals. The understanding of sirtuin function can contribute to developing new therapeutic strategies to combat and/or treat age-related diseases.
