Summary
HIV infections attack our immune system, leaving infected individuals more vulnerable to diseases and infections. Using advanced microscopy and computational methods, we study how HIV infects human cells. In particular, we focus on how the virus enters one of the cell’s most tightly guarded compartments, the nucleus, and how it integrates its viral genome into that of the human host. Our research provides a new understanding of HIV infection and points to potential strategies for future antiviral therapies.
