Summary
When two neutron stars merge, they emit gravitational waves and electromagnetic signals of various wavelengths, as well as neutrinos. The longest and most complex simulation of neutron star merger to date reveals details about the formation of black holes and their jets. This simulation is an important step forward for multi-messenger astrophysics. Simulations of such events provide valuable information to improve our understanding of future observations.
