Job Offer from September 17, 2025

The Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (MPI-IS) conducts research to advance intelligent systems that perceive, learn, and interact. Through fundamental research across computational, physical, and social dimensions, we shape artificial intelligence and robotics to advance knowledge and benefit society.

We are looking for a Data Team Student Assistant (m/f/d), 40-83 hrs/month.

The Perceiving Systems Department at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen is looking for Data Collection and Processing Student Assistants to assist the Data Team with collecting, curating, and processing data.

About the project

We are creating the world’s most realistic human and animal avatars for use in research, film, virtual reality, and medicine. Using unique 3D & 4D capture facilities, machine learning, computer vision, and advanced graphics, we are modelling every nuance of how humans and animals look and move. We develop algorithms to estimate human shape and motion in images, videos, RGB-D sequences, etc. Our approaches define the current state of the art.

The Data Team is working closely with computer vision researchers to create unique data sets. This includes collecting human subject data at our capture facilities, web-based data extraction, and working with commercial and academic data sets.
