Summary
In the future, it could become easier and quicker to diagnose common diseases. As a representative study shows, infrared light measurements on blood plasma, combined with machine learning, can detect various metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, dyslipidemia, and high blood pressure. Until now, detecting each disease has required separate tests, but with the new method, a single measurement on just one drop of blood could soon be enough to carry out a comprehensive health screening in a matter of minutes.
