Summary
In a novel co-evolutionary approach, researchers have combined and analyzed projections of future sea level rise with socio-economic survey data. The results indicate that climate protection – particularly the protection of coastal areas – often already plays an important role in society's perception of climate change and willingness to take action. In some regions, anticipation of the consequences of the expected sea level rise could strengthen transformative dynamics and collective action in society.
