Summary
Our environment consists of designed objects: paper stacked on desks, coffee cups next to them, chairs – they all shape the way we touch and look at the world. They are intentionally shaped matter that bear the traces of their creation: they are “coded”. Coded Objects aims to develop methods to read and decode their form. At a time when the designing of information has become a dominant force in world politics and economics, we cannot afford to ignore the formal and material implications of these codes in everyday objects.
