Summary
Electrosynthesis is proving to be a technology of the future for the production of organic substances, as the addition or removal of electrons activates chemical bonds. In addition to the direct utilization of electricity as primary energy, significantly less waste is generated compared to conventional synthesis. The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion is dedicated to researching novel methods for the metal-free production of active ingredients through the rapid and innovative electrochemical reduction of nitroaromatics and obtaining their metabolites, which are often difficult to obtain.
