Summary
Symmetries play an important role in art and architecture, they are central in biological development, in chemical processes, and in physical systems. Symmetry is also a central principle in mathematics. It allows us to discover hidden structures and to reduce complex problems to their essence. The practical application of this concept is evident even in everyday objects, such as the compass. However, more complex, high-dimensional mathematical structures with many symmetries also find applications, for instance, in machine learning.
