Summary
he Covid-19 pandemic prompted the European Union to take on unprecedented common debt. As the time to repay these funds approaches, debates over the most sustainable and equitable financing model for the Union are gaining new momentum. At the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance, we are engaged in several research projects exploring the present and future architecture of European public finance. This involves fundamental questions about the allocation of powers and responsibilities between the EU and its Member States.
