Peter Falkai is a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina; in 2011 and between 2015 and 2023, he was Senator of the Neurosciences Section. He was also President of the German Society for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Psychosomatics and Neurology (DGPPN) from 2011 to 2012 and is the site spokesperson for the BMBF-funded German Centre for Mental Health. Since this year, he has been President of the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry. He has been a Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society and Director of the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry since October 2024.
