Hubs of Excellence for Research in Eastern Europe

2018

With the novel format of Dioscuri Centres of Scientific Excellence, the Max Planck Society supports the development and expansion of scientific excellence in Central and Eastern Europe. The first two of a total of five groups were established in Poland in 2018. This was followed in 2021 by the launch of the Dioscuri program in the Czech Republic. Dioscuri centres are set up in places where the foundations have already been laid thanks to established infrastructure and where an environment for cutting-edge research exists. They are intended to attract top scientists and thus become a real lever of excellence for research in Central and Eastern Europe.
