Summary
A first direct detection of a gravitational wave signal is becoming more likely in the forthcoming years as the sensitivity of gravitational wave detectors is constantly improving. The German-British observatory GEO600 contributes to this development once more: For the first time in the world, the sensitivity of a gravitational wave detector will be improved by implementation of squeezed light.
