Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, Mülheim an der Ruhr
Type of Job
Job Offer from September 12, 2017
The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion in Mülheim an der Ruhr has been re-established in 2012 and the field of research has been aligned with the conversion of energy. Our scientists are engaged in basic processes that are essential within the storage and conversion of energy.
The department “Molecular Theory and Spectroscopy” is currently looking for a candidate for a postdoc with a strong background in quantum chemistry.
The postdoctoral position is available in the department of Molecular Theory and Spectroscopy within the framework of the BMWi Project „Development of low-cost electrodes for PEM fuel cells with low Pt loading on the basis of novel hollow graphitic spheres support materials” (PtTM-HGS). The postdoctoral position is available in the group of Alexander A. Auer (Dept. Professor Dr. Frank Neese) in molecular and heterogeneous catalysis, combined with computational chemistry.
The MPI CEC is presently looking for a candidate with a strong background in theoretical chemistry to strengthen our research team. The candidate will carry out a highly relevant project in the field of materials science, heterogenous catalysis and method development. Research topics cover a broad range of quantum chemistry applications starting from structural and mechanistic studies on energy conversion reactions like the oxygen evolution reaction up to small development projects within the ORCA quantum chemistry package.
You should have a PhD degree in theoretical chemistry or physics. Basic knowledge about quantum chemistry, theory and algorithms will greatly help.
The vacant position is to be filled as soon as possible, however the starting date is flexible. The position is initially for 12 months and is remunerated according to the labor agreement for public service (TVöD), pay level E13. A prolongation is possible.
The Max-Planck-Society explicitly encourages women to apply. Furthermore the Max Planck Society wishes to increase the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals.
Please send electronic versions of your documents and address all enquiries to Alexander A. Auer, email@example.com. Please state the reference code “AA003” in your application. Application documents must include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae with the contact details of two referees and a copy of your PhD certificate.
Closing date is October 1, 2017.
