The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics is an international research institute with approx. 250 employees, working in the field of molecular genetics. A special focus lies on functional genomics of man and other organisms.
The Max Planck Research Group "Epigenomics" (Head: Dr. Ho-Ryun Chung) combines both experimental and computational approaches to unravel the impact of chromatin structure and modifications on transcriptional regulation. The group offers an interdisciplinary environment to complement existing skills in experimental or computational analyses.
We invite applications for a PhD position – Bioinformatic analysis of epigenomic data (TVöD E13/2) Code: 17-18 C.
The group is seeking an outstanding PhD student to perform bioinformatic analyses of epigenomic data from patients with Primary Myelofibrosis – a chronic blood cancer. The project aims at the definition of the epigenetic landscape of neoplastic stem cells in Primary Myelofibrosis and their healthy counterparts with focus on the contribution of genetic and epigenetic changes to the disease.
We are seeking a motivated team player with strong communication skills. A basic understanding of statistical and bioinformatic methods as well as fluency in programming languages, such as C++, perl, python and especially R, are required. Experience in the analysis of Next-Generation-Sequencing data, especially ChIP and RNA-seq data, is an asset but not mendatory.
Funding is available starting 1 October 2017. The successful applicant should be willing to move from Berlin to Marburg by 1 July 2018.
The contract for the initial 8 months (October 2017 until June 2018) will be with the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics; and starting July 2018, the applicant will receive a new contract valid until 30 September 2019, with the possibility of an extension from the University of Marburg.
