Born on January 18, 1950 in Bartow, Florida/USA. PhD in psychology from University of Georgia, USA (1980), taught at Emory University and worked at Yerkes Primate Center, Atlanta/USA (1980-1998), Director and Scientific Member at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology (since 1997), Honorary Professor Leipzig Univ. (1999).
