(1976-1977), study of medicine and doctorate Munich Univ. (1974-1979), assistant at the Psychiatric Clinic of Munich Univ. (1979-1981), senior physician, head of the neurochemical laboratory of the Psychiatric Clinic of Mainz Univ. (1981-1987), German Habilitation in psychiatry, Professor of Psychiatry (1984), Director of the Psychiatric University Clinic Freiburg (1987), Scientific Member of the MPS and Director of the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry (since 1989).
